One LUCKY girl =)

Yep – I think so, ha!  And why do I think so?  Well, maybe it’s because I am married to my best friend and we enjoy just about ALL of the same things.  Or maybe it’s because we enjoy just sitting on the porch on a cool evening, listening to the crickets and talking about the day.  Is it because we both love the sand and sea – and LOVE getting away for a day or weeks?  Oh – it’s because we both love anything to do with the water.  Sunshine.  Fine wine.  A good meal.  A tractor pull.  The county fair.  Whew!  I could keep going.  But this time I’m talking about spending 12 hours at a benefit auction.  Whoa!

Let me explain.  Ronnie loves him some Facebook.  He knows EVERYTHING that is going on and is ALL about supporting local businesses, events and fund raisers.  So – he just happened to see where the Forgotten Children Ministries was having an auction at the KOA.  He reached out to someone he didn’t know and asked if he could donate…That’s just what he does =)  (We found out later that they were like “who was this guy that wanted to donate baskets?”  I mean that certainly already had enough, LOL).

But anyway, he dropped off his donations and we made plans to attend the auction on Saturday.  It started at 2 and we arrived around 1:30.  Of course we needed to scope out all the goods….I was in LOVE.  So much OLD stuff.  So many antiques with such a history.  Oh.  My.  Gosh.

So he checked in.

I made my list. And we waited.  Many of the things were a little out of our ballpark but certainly reasonable.  Like this sewing machine….

I would love to have one but we do have our limits.  We like the items that are under $25 hehe.  It was very interesting to go from Barbies to a ball and chain.

Then American Girl dolls to wagon wheels –

There was nothing boring about this place, for sure!  Even I was happy just taking it all in for hours.  and I do mean HOURS.

We are looking to make a couple changes to one of our rooms so some of these items will accent just fine –

what a spear!
a nice saw blade for the wall?
a wine barrel?
a wine barrel?

What about this planer and hay pulley?

And of course this little ‘sample’ furniture will be perfect for the girls’ dishes or baby clothes.

So Cute!
So Cute!

My dad used to have some of these –

And who doesn’t need a chest like this?  I wonder what was ever in this thing?  A holster and a Davy Crockett knife make perfect conversation pieces =)

We had such a great time we are planning to attend one in Bunker Hill this weekend.  I’m looking for an OLD button box.  And, there were some cameras but I hadn’t done my research to know the value.  I plan to do that because I have heard of some really great finds at sales.  ‘cited!

Nice!
Nice!

this did get me thinking though…..instead of a yard sale, maybe we could have an auction with 50% of the proceeds going to a charity or benefit?  Hmmm may not be a bad idea versus my grand idea of selling everything for $1.

Anyone ever have an auction?
