That’s what ALL teachers have to have today in order to survive, understand, teach, impact. No doubt.
Today is National Teacher Day and when I first heard it on the radio I had to stop and think. Which teachers made an impact on me?! Was it Mrs. Sisk who was my first and second grade teacher (back in the day 1st and 2nd shared a room AND a teacher). I loved her. She hugged me and cared for me. She was like my ‘mom away from home’. Or was it my 6th grade teacher who only had one arm and could SWING that paddle like none other?! (i won’t name her but several of my FB friends know exactly who I am talking about LOL) Maybe it was my 10th grade history teacher who knew I was doomed? He helped me in every way possible and I actually passed. (he even helped me pass classes he didn’t teach). Regardless, I am soon going to be the proud Momma of a teacher! And, she will be AWESOME!
I see her in action with these girls –

I see her in action at 4H (6th year as President of her club)

I see her working hard on her college/school work –

and I see her one day being so much more than a ‘teacher’. She has such potential and I am lucky enough to call her my daughter.
So here’s to ALL those wonderful teachers. Here’s to all those teachers that made a difference. And here’s to all those teachers that taught me what ‘not to be’. Cheers!
