Songs. Stories. Gas Money.

Friday evenings have been our ‘wind wine down’ night for many years.  It is honestly, my favorite evening.  Our typical Friday evening means heading to a winery that’s open late, has some music and great wines.  That’s easy in our area except during the Fall/Winter when the ones open until 8-9 are limited.  Just in case you’re interested, here’s the current list of ‘late open’ wineries:

Valerie Hill – Open Friday’s until 9.  Nice food options and sometimes has a food truck.  Awesome wine and known for their Firepit Fridays.  Very pretty ‘old’ mansion.

Creek’s Edge – Open Friday’s until 9.  Food fixed there…sandwiches and soups.  Great wine.  Beautiful facility.

Big Cork – Open until 9 on Friday’s.  We have not been here yet but it’s on the list.

Knob Hall – Open most Friday’s until 10.  Food available.  Beautiful barn.  Great wines.

James Charles – Open Friday’s until 9.  Modern facility.  Beautiful view.  Cheeses & snack baskets available.  Very nice wines.

The Barns of Hamilton Station – Open Friday’s until 8.  Warm and Cozy old Barn.  Food available.  Great wines.

We had received an e:mail from the Barns inviting us to their Songs, Stories & Gas Money series. It looked interesting but it’s hard for us to commit =)  Needless to say, last Friday we landed there by chance and it just happened to be the first one!  Score (for sure).

We arrived, spotted a table, grabbed a glass of wine –

and ordered some snacks (since it lasts until 10)

Todd Wright was in the spotlight – very entertaining, very talented and just happened to be spending his wedding anniversary with us HEHE.  Of course his wife was there, too.

One of the requirements for the evening is quiet.  Very different from your typical winery music.  It’s very nice.  The crowd seems mesmerized.  The Barns has a very quaint atmosphere which adds to the enjoyment.

He brought his daughter, Ryan along as well who is also very talented.  She sang beautifully.

Ryan also is responsible for the artwork on his cd – very cute (I’m assuming it was some time ago)

They shared their anniversary cake with us which was amazingly tasty –

Now that I have captured your interest, the next evening for Songs, Stories & Gas Money is this coming Friday evening.  11/18.  Will we see you there?
