These three words will describe our life after last night. As they say, all good things must come to an end and it’s here. Since 1987 or for 29 years I have always had a child in sports. A school activity to attend, coordinate or support. Our lives were pretty much driven by the activities our children participated in.
That’s just how it was. It’s all about that commitment. When you have children, you get them involved in activities. Whether it’s dance, cheerleading, track, baseball, soccer, basketball, football, softball, chorus, band, 4H, Soap Box Derby, we were there. (I don’t think there was much one of the four didn’t do).
With our last child wrapping up high school, last night was the last JHS Annual Baseball Boosters Banquet we will be part of coordinating. Ronnie has until 6/30 as the president of the boosters. Wow. Where did the past 4 years go?

Now, just in case you’re wondering, Chase still has to go back for the first semester next year so we really do have a child in school. But, he won’t be in any activities and will be focusing on getting his diploma. sigh.
We have made many friendships over last 4 years. Many we will stay in touch with yet others our interactions will be rare. These three will no longer be seated up in the press box at every home game, announcing, coordinating music and keeping score –

This board will be reduced by three – President, Vice President & Secretary. Only leaving our dear Wendy…as the Secretary =)

With new ones moving in who will do a fine job.
We will remember this day – the very last time our son had a Jefferson jersey on after the State championship last year – We will remember that very last out when he couldn’t get to the ‘dog pile’ from right field fast enough. Yep, we will always cherish these years. And I am the lucky one that gets to be the proud “1st lady” =)

And we will be happy to be able to say we were a part of this organization! WooHoo!
And what does all this mean to us? Well. Tonight we enjoy a quiet dinner. Talking about all the accomplishments. Thinking about all the friends we have made. And after that? Well, it’s time to get our house back in order. It’s time for a HUGE Yard Sale. All those projects that have been put on hold will get prioritized. And that motorhome needs to come out of the garage and get fixed up to go camping.
Yep, it will seem a little weird. Strange. Unusual. But change is inevitable and I think we are ready for the next chapter. Of course we will still be active with the Boosters….it’s such a great organization and group of people that we will continue to support.
Yippee! New adventures are coming our way. It’s been real. It’s been fun and it’s actually been REAL fun.
