Why blog?

It’s funny because whenever I tell someone one of my hobbies is ‘blogging’, I get the deer in the headlights look.  I started in 2009 as a way to capture our daily/weekly/monthly events to make it easier to scrap book.  Quickly I realized there were many people doing the same thing and I liked them.  We became friends.  Distance didn’t matter.  It was awesome.  It’s something I never got/get tired of and have continued to learn more and more.  I loved Blogger.  It was free.  It was easy.  It was me.  Here’s one of the first headers I ever did all by myself, ha!

A few months ago I began thinking about the future.  I’m not young, lol.  What happens when I ‘retire’.  How will extra income be generated?  Well, I decided that I wanted to pursue learning all i can/could about blogging.  CSS.  HTML.  Coding.  Hosting.  Domain.  And the list goes on and on.  I wanted to find something to make extra money from ANYWHERE.  (preferably where the sand meets the sea, ha).  Along with that came the search for resources.  I wanted to create my own blog.  I wanted to know how to make changes on the fly.  I wanted to be proud.

The.  Best.  Money.  I.  Ever. Spent was with Lesley @ Chaotically Creative.  Her What the Tech program has been awesome.

I have gone through all the videos at least once.  Many multiple times.  I printed the book and placed in a binder.  Whew!  The pages are curled.  And I just know I will use them over and over.  You too can do this – just check her out.  I never feel stupid.  I have support 24/7.  It is awesome!  At least check  Lesley out!  You won’t regret it.  I promise.

So back to the question – Here’s why I blog:

• To influence
• To motivate
• To inspire
• To educate
• I enjoy it!  That’s the best part of all =)

I am continuing to learn.  I now have two blogs and am contemplating creating one more (yes, I just might be crazy) But I love it.  It’s a way to express and share my feelings.  It’s a way to record memories even if I never actually ‘post’ them, ha!

I am hoping to start a blog network/community in the fall.  I want to share everything I have learned and continue to learn.  (Thus the Blog Tips page on my blog).  It would be so cool to have our laptops at Panera, sharing what we learned week after week.  So ‘cited!  So if you are interested, be sure to sign up for the updates/newsletter HERE.
